SITUATION
Iwonicz Zdroj is the health resort, situated about 80 km south of Rzeszow (the provincial capital). Thanks to its beautiful location among sound forests, curing springs and the high standard of health service enjoys a good reputation in Poland and abroad. These advantages create perfect conditions for treatment and leisure. The climate in Iwonicz is described as a ‘piedmont climate’ with features of sub-alpine climate, which is extremly favourable in health resort treatment.
The mean twenty-four-hour temperature is about 17 centigrades in the summer months. The valley, surrounded on all sides with mountains and forests, is a unique repository of balmy air flowing through passes of the Carpathian Mountains. The forests of Iwonicz constitute a protective zone for the resort, regulate air humidity and temperature, protecting in the spa from winds and source of oz0ne.
HEALTH RESORT TREATMENT
Mineral waters and peat, natural therapeutic agents, are the greatest wealth of Iwonicz. The long knownwaters are used in treating a variety of diseases. Portable waters cure allergies, hypertension, atherosclerosis, gastritis, metabolic diseases and hypothyroidism. The baths help cure chronic diseases of peripheral nervous system, chronic gynaecological problems, traumatic conditions and rheumatic ailments. Inhalations are used in the treatment of asthmatic conditions and respiratory tract diseases. Iwonicz Zdrój offers a rich and well equipped sanatorium and boarding-house base. Health service facilities have modern equipment and medical apparatus.
Some treatments have their own establishments by means of natural factors and procedure departments, the central institution of treatment by means of natural factors supplements any shortage in respect to ambulatory services of facilities which do not have their own procedure departments.

SPORT AND TOURISM
In the commune are available: an outdoor swimming pool with a playground for children and a volleyball pitch, and mountain bike hire for mountain tourism, a tennis court, a sports stadium in Iwonicz. The nineteenth-century spa park is an attractive place for walking.
In the forests, which surround the town, there are many lanes for tourists to stroll and admire the beauty of an intact environment. An observant person has a chance to spot, wild animals, e.g.: wild boar, deer, roe deer, fox, hare, squirrel, sometimes even lynx or wolf. There are also numerous species of birds. Some of them rare such as black stork, or hawk.
